The big switch over is due in 2025 so BT are in the process of making all the physical changes with Openreach and will start to move all customers from the old analogue public switched telephone network (PSTN) to a fully digital network. Everyone will be moved over before Openreach stop the PSTN (and ISDN) service in 2025. By then, every phone line in the UK will be digital, meaning calls will go via the internet (Internet Protocol) rather than the traditional PSTN.
